Hydrangea U&M Forever and its hybrids Tugese and Love

The blooming of the large-leaved hydrangea is delightful. Spectacular flower domes attract the eyes of both experienced florists and novice gardeners. However, this beauty requires attention and competent care, the plant is very capricious and demanding to maintain.

The history of the origin of the shrub and its characteristics

Hydrangea U & Me Forever appeared in the gardens of Europeans thanks to breeders from France and their traveling ancestors. French sailors brought a flower of extraordinary beauty in the 17th century from the island of Mauritius. Later, breeders bred several hybrid forms, some of which were combined into the Yu and Mi group.

Hydrangea blooms are eye-catching

The Forever hydrangea bush is quite compact, up to a meter in height and up to 80 cm in diameter. It has thick and flexible shoots, densely covered with large leaves 20 cm long. The leaf blade is wide, with light veins, finely toothed along the edge.

During flowering, the plant grows domed inflorescences up to 20 cm in diameter. Terry flower petals can be blue or purple, depending on the composition of the soil.

Note! The variety is frost-resistant, has a long flowering and is capable of forming inflorescences, both on old and young shoots.

Hybrid forms of the variety

With the growing popularity of the variety, breeders have bred several hybrid forms of large-leaved hydrangea:

  • Yu and Mi Tugese. A dense spherical bush with ovoid leaves jagged along the edges. Small flowers are collected in lush inflorescences of pink shades. Blooms from June to September.
  • Yu and Mi Love hydrangea. A tall bush (up to 1.5 meters in height) with large, glossy emerald leaves. You and Me Love are divided into 2 types according to the color of the flower: pink and cream.
  • Yu and Mi Romance. Popular with inflorescences of blue and pink shades with flowers in the form of stars.

Planting hydrangeas U&M Forever

The flower is planted in spring in a well-lit place, but without direct sunlight. Disembarkation algorithm:

  1. Before planting, the hole is fertilized with sour peat and humus, drainage is laid on the bottom.
  2. The seedling, together with an earthen clod from the pot, is lowered into the hole by transferring.
  3. The bush is dug in and watered abundantly.

Important! It is worth buying a seedling only after the leaves fall or when the buds bloom.

Bush care

Plant care comes down to several rules:

  • Watering is best done with rain or settled water. The soil should always be slightly damp. It is important not to overdo it with watering so that the fungus does not start.
  • Top dressing is carried out 4 times a season. Multicomponent fertilizers are welcome.
  • Pruning of bushes is done only by 4 years from planting. The bush is formed, dry and weak branches are removed.
  • Despite its good winter hardiness, hydrangea needs a winter shelter of straw and dry leaves.

Reproduction

Ornamental shrub propagates by cuttings. Procedure:

  1. A part of the shoot is separated from the branch, and after removing the lower leaves, it is kept in a root growth stimulator.
  2. The seedling is transferred into a container with moist soil, sprayed and covered with foil.
  3. Germinate the cutting in a dark place, regularly airing.
  4. After rooting, it is transferred to a permanent place in the open ground.

Diseases and pests, methods of dealing with them

The plant is resistant to many types of diseases, but ignoring the rules of agricultural technology can be the cause of some diseases. For example, chlorosis or powdery mildew. They are fought with fungicides, regular weeding and proper watering.

Sometimes hydrangeas are damaged by a spider mite. Insecticides will help get rid of it.

Use in landscape design

Hydrangea Forever fits well into any landscape design. Perfectly dilutes greenery, decorates parks, squares and gardens. Shrubs are planted along garden paths, near benches and gazebos.

Hydrangea Forever looks good in the landscape

The description of the decorative flower does not convey the real beauty of all hydrangea hybrids. Despite the demanding care, the shrub deserves to be the highlight of any greenhouse.
