How crowned lychnis reproduces

Reproduction of lichenis crown occurs with the help of seeds. Abundant self-sowing is used, emerging in spring. Strong seedlings are selected. Also propagated by rooting cuttings.

Note! It is worth pointing out that specific varieties take root through seed propagation, and others through cuttings.

Growing from seeds

In order for the plant to sprout in July, it is already necessary to grow seedlings from the beginning of March. Seedlings begin to appear after a few weeks. From the end of May, seedlings are planted in open ground, without fear of cold weather. Seedlings are able to withstand frosts, but for prevention they insulate the soil with lutrasil.

Time to board

The seeds can be planted in July. Only next year will the plant delight with flowering. At first, there is a slow development. By the end of the second year, lush bushes already appear.

Choice of capacity

You can grow seeds in boxes or directly in the open field. In the case of crates, a healthier and more beautiful crop is obtained. A plastic container with a depth of 10 to 15 centimeters is used, you can use a wooden pot. Do not use a metal or glass box. The container is half filled with the substrate. The seeds go a few centimeters deep. From above, the boxes are covered with foil and placed on a windowsill, well illuminated by the sun.

Soil and seed preparation

For planting, a light, breathable and non-fertilized substrate is used. It is made from fertile loose soil, river drainage sand, humus, compost, peat and superphosphate. A special fertilizer for the plant is added separately. The seed does not need to be specially prepared.

Sowing is a crucial stage in planting lychnis

Seedling care

Florist reviews confirm that it is easy to care for the plant. Care consists in constant watering and airing the seedlings. When pallor appears, additional lighting is mounted.

Note! To prevent water from stagnating on the surface of the containers, you should carefully loosen it.

Dive and transfer

Diving and transplanting of seedlings is carried out in March or April. The most beautiful and strong sprouts are chosen from all seedlings. The transplant is carried out in separate pots until the open ground is completely warmed up.

Landing in open ground:

  1. Before landing, choose a place. It should be open and well-lit.
  2. Prepare the substrate, dig out the holes at a distance of ½ m from each other.
  3. The bottom is covered with drainage.
  4. Distribute the substrate from above. Place the seedlings in the pits. Buried in the same soil and watered thoroughly.

Cuttings

For grafting, cuttings are cut before bush flowering, at least 10 centimeters in length. In this case, the cuttings should have about three sheets. The clippings can be immediately placed in the ground.
