Rose Kerio

The most decorative plants are roses. The large family is divided into groups, among which summer residents are attracted by hybrid tea varieties. One of the brightest representatives of the species is the Kerio rose, bred by Dutch breeders.

Tea hybrids are shrubs of medium height, blooming from July until frost. Gardeners are attracted for their high decorative effect and strong immunity to diseases.

Hybrid Tea Beauty

One of the best varieties in breeding is Kerio hybrid tea rose. Lex + (Netherlands) has endowed the variety with the best qualities. As a result, the plant, registered in 2002 as Lexoirek, won international floriculture awards.

Description of the variety

The hybrid is easily recognizable among other representatives of the tea group. The main characteristics of Kerio are:

  • the bush is compact, straight, almost the same in height and width - 60 cm each;
  • set of thorns on the stem - medium intensity;
  • leaves are glossy, small in size, sometimes a burgundy shade flashes on a dark green background;
  • the yellow rose of Kerio gives beautiful goblet buds with a high core, which does not open completely;
  • matte petals of dense structure in the amount of 30-35 pcs. collected in a large double flower with a diameter of 8 to 12 cm.

Rosa Cario is a re-blooming species. The buds bloom slowly and lazily, from which flowering lasts a long time both in the first run and in subsequent ones. The petals are kept on the stems until the frost.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The description of the hybrid rose speaks for itself - the appearance of the bush can already be considered an advantage. Gardeners also distinguish other benefits:

  • the Kerio rose has a high immunity, so it is not afraid of black spot, powdery mildew, rust;
  • the plant firmly tolerates prolonged rains - the flowers do not crumble under the influence of precipitation, the petals do not swell from excess moisture;
  • the variety is winter-hardy and easily withstands a sharp drop in temperature (up to -23 ° C);
  • bouquets of yellow roses stand in a vase for a long time without losing their freshness.

Note! The majority of flower growers consider Kerio to be the ideal variety. More demanding connoisseurs still found one drawback - the rose does not exude a scent.

Use in landscape design

The decorativeness of the hybrid makes the bush a real decoration of the site. The medium height of the plant allows you to plant kerries in the center of the ridges or to arrange borders. A hedge of yellow tea varieties looks beautiful.

Rabat decoration

Roses have another use: they are grown for cutting into bouquets.

How to plant a hybrid correctly

In order for the Kerry rose to quickly adapt to its permanent place, the specifics of planting events are taken into account:

  • when buying seedlings, they carefully study the root system - it must be closed;
  • choose a bush with a well-developed non-dry ground part;
  • seedlings should be harvested in mid-spring, planted in open ground - with the arrival of May, when the ground warms up well.

Compliance with these recommendations will allow you to grow a beautiful decorative variety on the site without any problems.

Seat selection

Roses love warmth and sunshine.Therefore, for Kerio, spacious, not shaded clearings, not blown by the wind, are allocated. If it is supposed to plant bushes near the house, garage, change houses, then the flower beds are placed near the southern wall.

Site preparation

Having chosen a place for planting, the earth is dug to the depth of a shovel, removing the roots of plants that come across. A week before the main procedure, a hole is dug 45-55 cm deep.

Note! If you plan to plant several bushes, then the distance between the holes is kept at 0.4 m.

For normal development, the variety requires an acid-alkaline soil (pH 5.6-7.3) with a loose structure. If there is no such on the site, you will have to bring in a nutrient mixture consisting of fertile soil, peat, sand, manure.

At the bottom of the pit, gravel drainage is first laid. Then fill 1/3 with potting soil. Before planting roses, the holes are moistened every day.

Preparation of seedlings

After purchase, the bushes are stored in a cool room. 6 hours before planting, they are brought into heat and placed with their roots in water. Weak and damaged shoots are removed, healthy ones are slightly pruned.

Step-by-step landing algorithm

  1. Kerio sapling is lowered into the hole, fixing in the center.
  2. Gently spread the roots so that they fit freely.
  3. Fill the hole with soil, trying not to deepen the root collar.
  4. The plant is watered abundantly and the ground around the bush is lightly tamped.

Planting a seedling

Important! The flower is provided with slight shading for the rooting period. After 2 weeks, the shelter must be removed.

Plant care

Despite its good immunity, the Kerry variety needs careful care. Compliance with the basic rules of agricultural technology will ensure not only lush, but also long-term flowering.

Care features

ModeDescription
WateringThe hybrid is hygrophilous, but excess water can harm the plant. The optimal amount of watering is 2-3 times a week. With the arrival of autumn, the frequency is not reduced, because the bush continues to bloom. It is better to take water separated, slightly cool (+ 16 °).
TemperatureThe variety does not like either overheating or hypothermia. The most comfortable temperature for a bush is + 20-22 ° С. If the summer heat exceeds + 30 ° C, you should take care of humidification by installing an air irrigation system on the site.
Top dressingThe culture is responsive to complementary food. In the spring, organic matter (rotted manure) or a mineral complex with a predominance of nitrogen is introduced under the bushes. During the flowering period, the rose will need phosphorus-potassium dressing.
PruningThe procedure is carried out to stimulate the plant to bloom profusely, as well as to form a beautiful bush. On powerful stems, 4-6 buds are left, on the rest - 2-3.

Wintering features

Another important point in caring for a rose is a transplant. It is carried out as needed if the bush began to develop poorly. The best period for the procedure is during the growing phase of the moon.

Preparing for winter

The variety is well adapted to the Russian cold, but it should be covered for the winter. Before that, unripe shoots are cut from the bush, the remnants of buds and leaves are removed. The earthen circle is spud and mulched. All measures are carried out when the air temperature drops to zero.

Blooming rose

Many people liked Kerio for the duration of flowering, which takes place in phases (2-3 times per season). The first wave starts in June, usually releasing single buds on the stems. Sometimes they are collected in 3-4 pieces. in a lush inflorescence.

Care during and after flowering

The main stages of agricultural technology are described in the table above. A little clarification should be made regarding top dressing. Phosphorus-potassium fertilizers are applied 1 time - in mid-July, after the first wave of flowering.

If the rose does not bloom

Having placed a hybrid bush on his site, the summer resident is waiting for the appearance of yellow buds. In the year of planting, the plant may not bloom. If this happened in subsequent seasons, you need to look for the reason:

  • inappropriate place for development;
  • a lot of excess root growth;
  • the peculiarities of care are not taken into account;
  • the plant is sick or old.

Each of the factors can be adjusted.Ambulance includes such measures as feeding the bush with potassium containing fertilizer, removing unnecessary shoots, stimulating pruning.

Flower propagation

For this, the layering method is sometimes used, bending the young shoot to the ground and sprinkling it with it. Most often Kerry is propagated by cuttings.

When they produce

Cuttings can be taken from a bush in the summer and immediately rooted in the ground, choosing the morning or evening time of the day. Both semi-lignified and freshly blossomed stems and those that have already shed their petals will do.

How is it produced

Choosing suitable shoots, on which thorns break off easily, they are cut into cuttings 12-15 cm long. The lower cut is made oblique, placing it under the lower node. The upper one is straight, at a height of 20 mm from the node.

Harvesting cuttings

Flowers and leaves are removed from cuttings, or the latter are shortened by 1/3. Rooting is carried out here on the site or the cutting is planted in a pot with a peat-sand mixture.

Diseases, pests, methods of control

You should not worry about rose diseases - the variety has excellent immunity. You will have to fight aphids by applying the following measures:

  • mechanical removal with a directed stream of water;
  • chemical treatment of the bush with Fitoverm, Aktara, etc .;
  • folk remedies - infusions of onions, garlic, tobacco dust, pepper, tomato or potato tops.

Taking care of the comfort of the hybrid rose with yellow flowers, you can enjoy the beautiful design of the garden every summer.
