Why the mock-orange does not bloom. Poor plant growth
Content:
Garden jasmine, or chubushnik, was brought to the territory of Russia from the warm countries of the East. The bush is very popular due to its beautiful, abundant flowering and rich aroma. The plant does not require special care, but if you start it, it will cease to delight with magnificent flowers. There are many reasons why indoor mock-orange does not bloom.
Incorrect landing or transplant
First of all, in order to figure out why the chubushnik grows poorly, you need to check whether the rules and conditions of planting are observed. Jasmine does not like shade, if it is planted in a shaded place, it needs to be transplanted closer to sunlight. But at the same time it is important that the rays are not straight, scalding. If the shrub does not have enough light, the shoots begin to stretch out, and the bud does not form.
The problem why the mock-orange blooms poorly arises when the plant is planted very deeply. Because of this, the development process is disrupted. In addition, the quality of the soil plays an important role. Before planting a plant, you need to fertilize the soil well.
Watering errors
Jasmine does not like very moist soil. If water accumulates in the place where the shrub is planned to be planted, you must first prepare the drainage. To do it you will need:
- crushed stone;
- pebbles;
- gravel.
All components must be laid out on the bottom of the pit, then covered with earth on top.
The reason why the chubushnik does not grow may be a lack of moisture. A plant that does not have enough water begins to wither, then gradually dies.
Lack of light
Chubushnik will not bloom if it lacks light. If the plant is planted in the shade, to correct the situation, it must be transplanted to the sunny side. But it is important that the light is diffused. Direct sunlight is dangerous for shrubs.
Improper feeding
If a flower lacks nutrients, it will not bud. Regular pruning, as well as the rapid growth of the shrub, leads to the fact that the plant requires a lot of minerals and vitamins. It is recommended to feed the plant three times a day:
- with the onset of spring;
- before flowering;
- as soon as the plant has bloomed.
Superphosphates, wood ash and potash fertilizers are very useful for the plant. Thanks to them, the bush has abundant flowering. Carefully use nitrogen fertilizers. They provoke strong growth of greenery, but the number of inflorescences is reduced.
The folk method helps well. To feed the plant, you can prepare an infusion of nettle. The grass is poured with water and left in a dark place for 10 days. After the infusion is ready. it is diluted with water and watered with bushes. First, superphosphate must be added to them.
Diseases
Jasmine will not bloom if it is infected with any disease or attacked by a pest. It is easy to detect the disease on your own if you carefully examine the bush. The first symptoms are visible immediately on foliage and shoots.In an infected shrub, yellow spots appear on the leaves, they gradually curl and dry out.
In mid-July, light brown spots with a white border may form on the leaves of the plant. This sign indicates a plant infection with brown spot. Damaged leaves must be collected and destroyed. And the plant itself can be treated with Bordeaux mixture.
Pests
If the plant does not budding, this indicates an attack by harmful insects such as aphids, spider mites, and weevils. You can get rid of them by treating jasmine in spring and autumn with insecticides. The most commonly used "karbofos". The remedy does not affect the health of jasmine, but it copes well with parasites. In the initial stages of infection, insects can be eliminated using folk remedies.
When attacked by thrips, small dots appear on the leaves, which gradually form large spots. If parasites are found, the plant must be rinsed well under the shower, then sprayed not only the bush, but also the soil itself. To fix the result, spraying must be carried out several times.
The main measures of resuscitation and prevention
It is necessary to pay attention to what year the chubushnik blooms depends on how it was planted. The plant will not bloom for a long time if it was grown from seeds. Buds on such shrubs appear only in the seventh to eighth year of life.
Knowing why the chubushnik does not bloom, you can develop measures on what to do in order to eliminate the problem. In order for the shrub to please the owners in the garden with its bright flowers, you must first of all provide it with proper care, which includes regular transplantation, fertilizing, and competent watering.
Garden jasmine is subdivided into regular and terry jasmine. Regardless of the type, processing must be carried out taking into account the following rules:
- apply fertilizer twice during the growing season, for better flowering, fertilizers should be based on potassium;
- in the summer, phosphorus fertilizers are made for the plant, it is best to stop the choice on fertilizers in liquid form;
- in July, the shrub that grows in the garden must be cut off - thickened shoots are completely removed, which makes it possible for young shoots to develop;
- if the plant is more than ten years old, then its branches are removed under the root, which allows it to stimulate flowering and growth;
- at the end of autumn, the soil needs mulching using peat and pine needles;
- as soon as the shrub blooms, you need to process it to prevent pests.
Proper care, regular feeding, transplanting and watering will enable the plant to actively develop. Thanks to this, abundant and persistent flowering can be achieved.
