Growing and planting in open ground
It is best to plant a rose for Countess von Hardenberg in the middle of spring, but you can also in autumn, the main thing is that the plant has time to take root before the onset of cold weather.
Before planting, it is important to choose the right place so that the flower blooms well and does not get sick. It is better if it is a sunlit area, and in the hottest hours there should be a shadow. Otherwise, sunburn will appear on the petals. It is good to plant a rose scrub on a hill, in a ventilated place. You also need to make sure that the rose is sheltered from strong winds and drafts. You should not choose a planting site in a lowland and close to groundwater, otherwise the plant will hurt.
Rose seedlings must be prepared for planting: cut off dry leaves and too long roots, shorten to 20 cm. A day before planting, you can place the seedling in water or a solution of "Kornevin" or "Heteroauxin". So the plant will more easily tolerate planting and take root faster.
Fertile black earth soils are best suited for roses. But if it is not possible to bring such land to the site, you can use the following tips:
- If the soil is too light with a lot of sand, you can add clay, humus, peat and compost there.
- If the soil is heavy and clayey, sand, humus and compost with peat are added to it.

- Place the seedling in the hole so that the root collar is slightly below ground level. This promotes the growth of new shoots.
- Spread roots and cover with earth.
Care
Rose Astrid Decanter requires careful maintenance. It is necessary to monitor the condition of the soil, loosen it, remove weeds, apply top dressing and carry out prophylaxis against diseases and pests.
Watering
It is necessary to water the bush at least once a week, and in warm weather - 2 times. Watering stops in September.
Top dressing
You need to feed the plant depending on the season. Nitrogen is added in the spring, and potassium and phosphorus in the summer.
Pruning
Rose bushes are pruned in season. In the spring, the stems that have not survived the winter are cut and the height is removed. Summer pruning consists of removing faded roses and pruning the tops. In the fall, dead and diseased shoots are removed, the thinning of the bush is carried out.
Wintering
Roses need to be covered for the winter. With the onset of frost, they are cut off and covered with earth. A protective frame is erected on top, on which insulation is placed and a plastic film is stretched, with holes for ventilation. In the spring, the film must be removed as quickly as possible so that there is no greenhouse effect.
Bloom
Rose Countess Astrid blooms until autumn, before the onset of cold weather. The flowers are large, densely doubled, maroon in color, with a purple tint. Towards the center, the color becomes lighter and turns into red. On the stem there can be up to 5-7 inflorescences at a time. Best of all, the rose looks half-open. A fully opened flower lasts a week.
Shrabs bloom quite abundantly, new ones come to replace faded flowers. To extend the flowering period and promote the appearance of new buds, it is necessary to feed the plant with potassium and phosphorus. For a richer rose color, you can fertilize it with magnesium. After flowering, the plant also needs feeding for the next season.
To stimulate the growth of new flowering shoots, part of the shoot is removed in the summer with faded roses.
In the first year, it is not necessary to allow the bush to bloom early. Until August, all buds should be removed, by the end of summer, leave a couple on each shoot and not cut until autumn. This is how the fruits are formed, and next year abundant flowering is ensured.
There is one technique that few people know about. It is better to tie protruding branches to the trellis in a horizontal position. Then the roses release new blossoming branches. If this is not done, then the bush will bloom only "on the top of the head."
Reproduction
Rose Astrid Decanter propagates by cuttings. To get a finished bush, you need to wait 3 years. Cuttings are most often carried out in early summer, and for this you need to prepare. It is necessary to allocate a place for growing cuttings, it should be in the shade. You also need to prepare the soil, remove weeds, and loosen.
It is better to harvest cuttings from young healthy plants. To do this, you need to cut off the shoot, divide it into several parts, 20 cm long. Each cutting should have several leaves and buds, without flowers. Leaves are removed from the lower part of the cutting, which will be in the ground. The best time to cut and plant cuttings is early in the morning.
Finished cuttings are placed in the ground, at a distance of 20 cm from each other, and watered. From above, the cuttings are covered with plastic wrap, it turns out a mini-greenhouse. Make sure that they have enough moisture, water in a timely manner. For the winter, cuttings need to be covered, like the rest of the roses.
In the spring, at the end of March-April, the insulation is removed, only the film remains. Gradually, air access to the greenhouse becomes more and more. In the summer, care for cuttings is the same as for adult plants. And next summer they are ready for transplant.

Countess Astrid von Hardenberg is resistant to diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot.
