Content:
To decorate the garden, hybrid tea varieties of roses are very often used. They are distinguished by their lush bloom and attractive appearance. One of the brightest representatives of this class is the Monica rose.
Description of appearance
About 30 years ago, the Monica rose, a hybrid tea variety, was bred in Germany. Its distinctive features are as follows:
- high decorativeness;
- frost resistance;
- unpretentious care.
Monica hybrid tea rose is quite high, when favorable conditions are created it can reach a height of 2 m.But with all this, the hybrid forms a not too sprawling bush, which can reach a maximum of 1 m in diameter.
Rose Monica produces elongated, straight shoots, with dark green glossy foliage and few thorns. The flowers are single, which makes them convenient for cutting and forming a bouquet.
Although similar to the hybrid tea variety are the roses of Santa Monica, Monica Bellucci, Golden Monica, which have something in common with floribunda varieties. So, the Belluccus variety Zhilyak differs in that its middle is as bright as that of the Monica variety, but the inside of the leaf is white.
Bloom
Monica hybrid tea rose forms very colorful and bright red-orange buds. Despite their "flashy" shade, they are resistant to the burnout process under the influence of bright sunlight.
The flowers are large in size - the diameter can be up to 12 cm. The flowering is abundant and long, throughout the summer - if the flower is properly cared for.
In addition, the buds in the open state have a pleasant smell.
Growing process
In order for the Monica rose variety to take root, to fruitfully increase the green mass and throw away the buds, you need to know how to grow it correctly.
Place of growth
Since these flowers are not afraid of burnout, you need to choose the most illuminated open area, protected from drafts. The north side and lowlands should be avoided.
Temperature and humidity
The hybrid tea variety Monika is excellent for central Russia. Despite its frost resistance, it is still necessary to create a shelter for the winter.
Regarding the amount of moisture in the air, the Monica rose will require a level above average.
Ground requirements
Rose Monica takes root well in slightly acidic soil, which is quite loose. If the soil on the site does not meet these requirements, then measures should be taken to improve it.
To do this, you need to start holding events in the fall.Introduce humus or mullein, which by the spring will have time to be evenly distributed over the soil and create optimal conditions for the growth of the plant.
When a hybrid tea rose Monica is planted, then a pit must be prepared for her. To do this, you need to create a suitable drainage with the help of small pebbles, which are spread on the bottom. This is a prerequisite in order to protect the roots from decay, rot or fungus on the plant.
Bush formation
Monica will be most aesthetically pleasing if the bush is properly formed. When the shank has already been planted, and it has taken root, it is necessary to monitor the formation of lateral layers. The main part of rosa Monica should have at least 2 shoots, which grow further to form a full-fledged bush.
Care must be taken to ensure that the color of the shoots is natural green. Those that are too pale or, on the contrary, an unnatural yellow or brown shade, must be cut off. You also need to monitor for the presence of diseases.
The same rule applies to the selection of cuttings for planting.
Hybrid Santa Monika, Monica, as well as other varieties of roses should be purchased in special nurseries.
Landing
In the spring, when the threat of night frosts has passed, you can start planting a rose. If you plan to plant several bushes at once, then between them it is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 60 cm. This will allow the bushes to form the size required in diameter in the future.
Before plunging the cutting into the prepared hole, it is advisable to cut the roots a little. To do this, they can be aligned along one line.
Basic rules of care
A rose will require some effort in the process of growing it.
Watering
Once the plant has been planted in the hole, it must be watered abundantly. And then add additional moisture to the soil every 2 days. This will allow the plant to take root faster.
In adulthood, the amount of water should be reduced, but it should still be sufficient. As soon as the topsoil has dried, it is necessary to water the bush.
It is necessary to increase the amount of introduced moisture in the process of budding and flowering. It is necessary to introduce water at the root, avoiding contact with the leaves, otherwise you can burn them, which is especially pronounced in sunny weather.
Top dressing
Before budding and during flowering, additional fertilizing can be made. They have a positive effect on the color formation process.
You can use as fertilizer:
- store dry substances that complement abundant watering;
- chicken droppings or mullein (liquid consistency);
- in the fall, you can use potash fertilizers.
Wintering
The ground next to the bush must be covered with a layer of mulch. Cover the bush itself with a covering material, but before that, be sure to treat it with copper sulfate.
Pests and diseases
Most of all, the rose is susceptible to the formation of powdery mildew. To get rid of it, you need to take preventive measures. To do this, it is advisable to process the bush with a soda solution before the first leaves are formed on it. And then you can repeat the procedure as needed. Aphids are easily expelled by treatment with a solution of laundry soap with wormwood tincture.
All these simple procedures will allow you to grow a healthy bush blooming with beautiful orange roses on your own site.
