Rose Talea (Talea) - features and characteristics of the flower

Rose is one of the most ancient ornamental plants. Today, thousands of varieties are known. Some of the most popular are hybrid tea varieties that truly surprise and attract people's eyes.

Rose Talea or Talea (Talea) - what is this variety, history of creation

Taleya is a variety of hybrid tea roses obtained as a result of breeding work in 2004 by the Lex Voorn rose growing company from Holland. Initially, the flower was created for cutting, but due to its unpretentiousness, elegance and beauty, it gained popularity among gardeners.

What a flower

Description

A compact bush with high stems, reaches a height of 1 meter. Large glossy leaves are colored dark green. The height of the lush buds is 10 centimeters. Double flowers with a dense center. Each bud has 17-25 petals, and 35-40 petals in a drop-down flower. The bulk of the inflorescences are single, but there are also 3-4 buds. The color of the flowers varies: they can be pale cream, beige, apricot, pale pink. Ivory remains very popular. The aroma is very delicate, barely perceptible.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Rose Thalia is a very popular variety. However, like any other plant, it has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Pros:

  • delicate and pleasant color of flowers;
  • large buds with many petals are the visiting card of the variety;
  • storage durability. Cut flowers can be kept fresh for 1.5 - 2 weeks.

Minuses:

  • whimsy. The Talea variety is very demanding for proper care;
  • instability to disease. Thaleus roses are susceptible to diseases and pests, they are not sufficiently protected from them.

Use in landscape design

Rose Talea is used to decorate household plots. Looks great in single plantings and mixed beds. Well complements the planting of low blue or gray spruce trees.

Growing a flower, how to plant it in open ground

Saplings are used to grow roses. They should only be purchased from trusted sellers or specialized stores. Planting seedlings is carried out at the end of spring, when the ground is already fully warmed up.

Location selection

Rose is a heat-demanding crop, so growing in cold regions makes no sense. It is very difficult to get a healthy and beautiful plant in such conditions. The planting site should be well lit and have little shade. The Thalia variety is susceptible to drafts, therefore, their appearance should be reduced to naught. Also, when choosing a place for planting, you need to look at the neighborhood with other cultures. For example, you cannot plant a rose with a carnation or mignonette, they will oppress her.

How to prepare the soil and flower for planting

The variety is not very whimsical to soil conditions. It grows well on moist soil.

Reference! Waterlogging of the soil is unacceptable!

If the watering of the soil turned out to be excessive, then a drainage layer of gravel and sand must be laid in the planting hole - it will take away excess moisture.Rosa Talia prefers acid-alkaline soils.

Before planting, the damaged stems should be cut off at the seedling and the roots should be slightly shortened. If the root system of a rose is open, then it will not be superfluous to keep it for about 5 hours in warm water. This procedure will facilitate the rooting process.

Planting procedure step by step:

  1. Soak the seedling in water for better germination.
  2. Dig a landing hole; width and depth of 0.5 meters.
  3. Prepare a mixture of sand, peat, earth and manure.
  4. Plant a seedling in a hole.
  5. Cover with a fertile mixture and moisturize.

Planting step by step

Plant care

Rose Taleya is an unpretentious flower, but you should not treat it negligently.

Watering rules and humidity

A rose needs at least 10 liters of water for one bush. In different periods of a plant's life, the frequency differs. Young roses need 1 bucket of water every week. In the second half of summer, when the rose already has an active growing season, watering should be halved. It is better to use heated water so that the difference between the temperatures of the ground and the water is minimal. It is better to water at the root, because the humidity of the air should be less than that of the soil.

Top dressing and soil quality

Proper feeding is very important for a rose, as it will provide the ideal soil composition for successful growth and development. In the spring, to improve growth, nitrogen fertilizers (nitrate, urea) are applied. In August, you need to feed the bush with superphosphate to prepare for winter. In the fall, additional fertilizers are applied. This will make it easier for the rose to endure the winter. Organics and complex mineral fertilizers are ideal.

Pruning and replanting

Pruning the rose will help achieve a neat appearance. In spring, healthy stems up to 15-20 centimeters are cut, at a height of 5-6 buds. Thickening bushes, shoots directed inward and excess growth at the base are removed. In the autumn, sanitary pruning is carried out, leaves are removed, and all shoots are shortened by 60%. After the completion of the work, it is required to process the stems with a 1% solution of copper sulfate.

Important! If the plant no longer satisfies its quality or the flowering has deteriorated, then the rose should be transplanted.

To do this, you need to moisten the ground and dig out a bush with a large earthy clod, then wrap it with a cloth. Next, plant it in the prepared hole, moisten the earth and sprinkle it with earth. The procedure is best done in early spring or from August to September. The conditions should not be too different from the previous location so that the plant experiences less stress.

Pruning before wintering

Features of wintering a flower

The Talea variety can tolerate frosts down to -17 ° C. However, it is better to use cover to avoid problems. At the first frost, you do not need to cover the rose, so it will harden. Next, you can cover the cut bush with earth so that its layer rises by 20 cm (1 bucket of soil). A cardboard (wooden box) is also suitable. Next, cover with a mixture of clay so that rodents do not penetrate, and cover the plant. From above, everything is covered with sawdust and straw. It is also possible to use lutrasil - a textile material.

After the end of winter, the shelter must be disassembled gradually so that the temperature is slowly leveled off. Organic residues can be used for mulching.

Blooming rose

The greatest period of activity is in July and August. In July, the first stage of flowering begins. At this time, you need to cut off the wilted buds, leaving the shamrock.

Important! It is strictly forbidden to feed roses during this period. Fertilization will speed up the process of flower withering away.

The second stage of flowering begins in August. In this month, young shoots appear, which will give life to new bushes. It is absolutely impossible to cut them off. However, if such a shoot appeared in the second half of the month, then it will have to be removed so that the plant does not waste energy before preparing for winter. Climbing varieties are not subjected to such a procedure. An exception is the Rambler variety.By the end of August, wilted buds stop cutting, allowing new seeds to form.

Blooming rose

What to do if the rose does not bloom, possible reasons

There are several reasons for this problem:

  • wrong footprint;
  • violations of the rules of pruning care;
  • lack or excess of fertilizers;
  • root shoots;
  • old bush.

Important! Transplanting a rose, pruning to the place of formation of new shoots, revising the schedule of fertilizing and their composition, removing root shoots and propagating a bush will help to return flowering. You can also feed the rose with potash fertilizers. After identifying the problem, you need to immediately start solving it, if possible.

Flower propagation

To get new offspring from the Thalee rose, you can use cuttings and the layering method. These procedures are best done in the spring.

Cuttings

For this, ripe shoots are taken, at least 5 mm thick. They should be carefully divided into segments with a sharp knife, each should have 3-5 buds.

Further landing is carried out as follows:

  1. Dig a hole 30 cm deep and fill it with a layer of grass and compost.
  2. Plant the shoots at an angle of 45 ° so that 1/3 of the cuttings or 2 buds are above the soil surface.
  3. Water the planting.

Diversion method

Reproduction is carried out in the spring, before bud break.

Order of conduct:

  1. Separate a flexible mature shoot from the main bush.
  2. On the back of the shoot, make small cuts near the eyes.
  3. Lay the layering with notches in the ground and secure with wood studs.
  4. Attach the end of the shoot with a pair of buds to the peg.
  5. During the summer period, loosen and water the place with the layering.
  6. Separate the formed root system from the mother plant in autumn.
  7. Transplant to a permanent habitat.

Diseases and pests

With improper care, the plant can be affected by harmful insects and diseases.

Pests:

  • Rose aphid. Insects settle in colonies on rose bushes. The shoots are deformed, and the buds do not open. To remove pests, the means "Inta-Vir", "Iskra", "Tanrek" are used.
  • Leafwig. Caterpillars damage leaves and shoots. You can get rid of them by manual removal, and pesticides are suitable for prevention.
  • Rose sawflies. Outwardly they look like a bee. It lays eggs on the bush, and the larvae of the pest bite into the shoots and make long moves. Insecticides are used to combat.

Rose disease

Diseases:

  • Powdery mildew. The reason is high humidity. White spots appear on the leaves, and the plant weakens and withers. The affected parts must be cut off and burned. In the spring, treat with copper sulfate.
  • Black spot. This is a fungal disease. The leaves of the rose darken and dark brown spots appear on them. Removal of damaged parts and treatment with zinc-containing preparations ("Topaz", "Profit") will help.
  • Rust. Leaves are affected by rusty spots on the stem and leaves. The rose should be sprayed with potassium nitrate and treated with copper sulfate.

Rose Talea is a very beautiful plant. Despite all the difficulties in growing, such a plant is worth it. Delicate aroma, beautiful and lush buds, attractive shades of the color palette - this is why it is worth growing such a bush on your site.
