How to feed roses with yeast - can they be used as fertilizer

Any grower knows that several times a year roses are fed with fertilizers with different compositions. But not everyone knows that yeast is a good food for roses. Flower growers see this top dressing as a great advantage over other fertilizers.

Feeding roses with yeast

Types of baker's yeast for flower feeding

Fertilization is an important stage in agrotechnical measures. And rose bushes need them like other plants.

Why do you need to feed roses

A blooming rose absorbs a large amount of useful elements, which are compensated for by top dressing. Without them, the bushes stop developing, the flowering time is reduced, the buds become small, and the flowers are inconspicuous. Roses need feeding with phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium. Fertilizers should contain iron, copper, aluminum. All of these elements are found in common baker's yeast (unicellular fungi).

Note! Both roses and any street and garden crops are watered with yeast solution.

Why yeast is good for roses

All of the above elements are found in common baker's yeast. Why do you need a yeast feed for roses:

  • nitrogen stimulates the growth of stems, shoots and foliage;
  • phosphorus helps the bushes to adapt to adverse environmental phenomena;
  • iron and potassium maintain water-salt balance, increase immunity;
  • trace elements help to strengthen the plant's body.

Yeast feeding helps the shrub to wake up from hibernation in spring. And also supports the plant during the first and second flowering in June - August.

Important! Yeast is activated at a temperature of + 15 ... + 20 ° C, therefore, a positive result is expected when the soil warms up to the required temperatures.

Yeast dressing recipe

A yeast dressing for roses is prepared in different ways.

Feeding roses with fresh yeast

Fresh produce is bought at the store. To obtain a solution, you will need the following ingredients:

  • yeast - 100 g;
  • water - 1 l;
  • sugar - a pinch.

Put the main product in a deep vessel, sprinkle with sugar and fill it with water at room temperature. At the end of the fermentation process, the composition is poured into 5 liters of water. Freshly prepared liquid is injected under rose bushes at the rate of 1 liter per bush.

Note! When making a mixture, sugar can be replaced with honey, jam, jam or marshmallow.

Preparing a yeast-based top dressing

Dry yeast recipe

Dry yeast powder is sold in packaged form. Ingredients for solution preparation:

  • dry yeast - 10 g;
  • sugar - 2 tbsp. l .;
  • water - 10 liters.

The fertilizer preparation procedure is identical to the first option, except for the amount of added water. After thorough mixing of the composition, the bush is watered in the root area.

Top dressing from dry yeast powder

Yeast with herbal tincture

The main ingredient in this recipe is dry yeast. Composition and preparation:

  • weeds from the garden - a lot;
  • humate concentrate - 1 bottle (Fitosporin can be used - 1 plate);
  • dry yeast - 200 g;
  • water - 10 liters.

As a weed, it is better to take mint, nettle, dandelion, celandine, horsetail or thyme.

Put the grass in a deep container, fill it with water, put the container in the sun and wait 2-3 weeks. After fermentation, the grass is straightened onto compost, humus, yeast powder and 10 liters of water are added to the aqueous composition. A well-mixed composition is watered with rose bushes at the root.

Note! When watering a bush rose, the composition is introduced at the root. Contact with the solution on the leaves is unacceptable.

How to feed roses with yeast and sugar

Most of all, yeast loves sweet foods, in particular sugar, jam, honey. Therefore, each recipe contains a sweet product.

Ingredients:

  • dry or wet yeast;
  • sugar or jam - 2 tsp;
  • warm water (+24 ° C) - 1 l.

You will need a basin and a 5-liter bucket.

Cooking procedure:

  1. Put yeast in a bowl.
  2. Add sugar.
  3. Pour 1 liter of water.
  4. Wait until the end of fermentation.
  5. Pour the resulting mixture into a bucket.
  6. Dilute with water to the edges of the container, stir.

The finished composition is fertilized with bushes, spending 1 liter per rose bush.

Feeding roses with yeast and ash

Yeast fertilizer will be even more beneficial if you add wood ash to it. Frequent watering and rains wash away essential elements such as calcium and potassium from the soil. Ash-based yeast dressing solves this problem. You don't even need to pour the ash into the solution, but just sprinkle it under the bushes, and pour the yeast solution on top.

Ready-made preparations containing yeast

Can roses be fed with preparations with yeast? Yes. And ready-made mixtures have a richer composition compared to home fertilizers.

An example of an industrial preparation for feeding

The following names are best known:

  • "Radiance". The drug is produced in several versions for different purposes. It contains dozens of beneficial fungi and bacteria, including yeast.
  • "Baikal EM-1". In addition to yeast fungi, the preparation contains lactic acid, nitrogen-fixing, photosynthetic microflora, which softens the effect of phytopathogens.
  • "Economik Bioconstructor". Its purpose is to increase soil fertility, which is necessary when growing roses. One package of the drug is enough for 5 tons of solution to fertilize the plant for a long time.
  • "Vostok EM - 1". Concentrated liquid for the improvement of open ground.

Before buying a drug, you need to read the instructions for use and choose the right option.

Note! Industrial preparations contain soil yeast, which has a more effective effect on the plant than bread fungi. When choosing, ready-made products are preferable.

How to properly water roses with yeast

To prepare the solution, water at room temperature is used. Do not store ready-made formulations for a long time. The bushes are treated with fresh solutions. When watering, you need to protect the foliage from getting the drug.

Solutions are injected strictly under the root

When watering with yeast solution, it is imperative to observe strict proportions and instructions for use. Both excess and lack of fertilizer will harm the shrub.

On a note! Fertilizing crops with such a solution is allowed only twice a year.

Yeast is effective for shrub roses, but plays a role as a growth promoter. And to use only them for feeding is a delusion. Good flowering depletes the soil. It will be difficult to restore its composition without organic and mineral fertilizers.
